Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant machine! This machine is really easy to set up straight from the box. The instruction booklet is very comprehensive and easy to understand. The machine itself is robust and modern looking, an asset to any kitchen worktop. It is also a lot more compact than I had imagined. The in-built coffee bean grinder is quiet, works very well and has different grind settings. The machine itself makes lovely coffees and warms up very quickly. The steam wand warms and froths milk sufficiently, however, it is a little bit noisy. Overall, this is a brilliant machine that makes coffee on parr with the high street coffee shops.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking after 2 years of use. I've used the Breville Barista Max for just over two years, and it's been a fairly enjoyable experience to date. The final cup of coffee depends on a few factors, the beans, the grind, the tamp, but once you get the handle in it you can produce a lovely cup of coffee. Unfortunately the machine has started leaking from the group head and also the wand. This should not happen after only 2 years. I have routinely cleaned the unit and completed the descaling cycle, so I look after it, and it's still failed. Customer service could not recommend anything to fix the problem. Therefore I cannot recommend this item.

My machine is just over a year old and has starting to drip from the front face, along with this the steam wand shoots water out like a tap every time you pour a shot of espresso.

Not helpful. feel very let down. would not recomend any Breville produts...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was good, but no replacement parts available I have had this machine for just under a year, I've never had any problems with it until now. Whenever I try to pull a shot, I get severe leakage from my porta filter/ group head, I can only assume its a faulty gasket as I've never ever had this problem until now. I cannot find any replacement parts to fix this myself. 1/10 for repairability and for spending over £300 on something, you'd expect replacement parts to be available.

The milk frother is ideal for luxury hot chocolate and smooth latte’s, and the design of the machine makes it really easy to clean. This honestly produces specialist shop tasting coffee at home and is a worthy investment for any coffee enthusiast. There is a compartment under the drip tray to store away all the tools and gadgets that come with the machine. I was surprised how easy it is to use and my guests love getting proper ‘posh’ coffee when they visit. It’s definitely one of the best ‘at home’ coffee machine out there and is constantly on the go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Coffee Machine Where does one begin... this is not an entry level coffee machine, it may not look advanced in terms of digital screen etc but it doesn't need to! The coffee it produces from any of my coffee beans has a nice aroma to it, not just the smell but the taste is amazing. It has all the features to becoming a great home barista to show off your skills! Everything is easy to clean they put great thought into the design and with whopping 2.8 litre tank it really is the best! I definitely recommend this beautiful machine to anyone who loves a nice coffee!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous looking coffee machine Was really impressed when this arrived, not a lot of assembly required so good to go in 5 minutes. Decided to use the beans since there was the grind function but did take me a little while, with a few Google moments for instruction videos, before I got going but that was more to do with my inexperience of creating actual coffee as opposed to instant! I was impressed with the functionality of it and it looks more imposing that it actually is, I felt like an actual barista. The great part of it for me was the hidden storage for the extra bits behind the drainer, great use of space as it is a large coffee machine. The only issue I have is the front is a lovely shiny silver but the side is plastic so doesn't have the same sheen to it but a small detail for a great peace of kitchen kit.

From grinding the coffee beans so smoothly and quietly, to creating a full bodied coffee of choice, the milk frother is an ingenius added bonus. Loving the fact it will make either one or two cups in one go. So very easy to use and clean, no mess at all. Very easy to understand instructions. Illuminating buttons are a fabulous feature. The whole process produces an excellent Barista style coffee within minutes. A very sturdy all round machine with attachments, providing a great in home service leaving a very pleasant aroma without leaving the house. A great addition to any kitchen, well recommended.

I had zero skill on operate any coffee machine and after long research and multi YouTube episodes I decided on this machine. My god I never been so inlove with coffee. On average I spent about £600 a year on take out coffee and my husband spent about half that. So definitely this is a best investment option and thanks God I made this decision today. Its so easy to operate and made an amazing coffee. Easy to use and clean. Instant setup. Looking forward to make coffee everyday and about 5 a day.

It's relatively easy to use, but it took me some time to adjust and get used to everything according to my preferences. Frothing milk took me a bit to master, especially since I use oat milk, which doesn't foam as easily, but I found the right technique. It's important to gauge how much coffee to grind; I've ground too much or too little before, affecting the taste. But it's all about practice. It's very easy to clean, and the best part is there's no milk container, which means less cleaning hassle. Overall, it's been great so far. I enjoy using it even when I'm in a rush in the morning.

The brewing options are out of this world allowing you to change the grind of the beans for a smaller or chunkier grind the coffee machine was super easy to use, can’t lie I was a little overwhelmed with the booklet it felt like there was too much to learn but I actually did it and realised it wasn’t as daunting as I first thought. The wand for steaming coffee is fun to use and easy to clean, the coffee grind cake does come out a little shloshy I did expect it to be dryer but it doesn’t affect the quality at all, absolutely love this machine and it will definitely prevent me from wasting money in coffee shops!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So pleased I made this purchase Bought this machine recently from Curry’s and haven’t regretted my purchase! Was new to the bean to cup coffee machines, having used pod machines before. Put a lot of research into what sort of machine I wanted to buy and decided on the Breville Barista Max. It’s obviously an entry level machine by price, but not by the coffee it produces. The overall look isn’t as flashy as some of the higher end machines but I wouldn’t let that put you off. Found it very easy to put together following the instructions, and was making coffee in a matter of minutes. I’m still practising using all the different settings this machine has i.e amount of coffee for one shot or two and frothing the milk up with the steamer etc (that’s definitely harder than it looks!) The only downside to this machine is that everyone wants a coffee when they come round!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and easy to use Feels like a sturdy machine, to touch it feels good quality, not cheap plastic. After setting up, it is really easy to use, fairly mess free. It is a bit bulky for my taste and maybe because i have a pretty small kitchen. I imagine it is quite easy to clean as all bits come off, and it comes with a cleaning brush. As for brewing performance, I would give it a 9/10, i guess it also depends on how fine or coarse you like your coffee ground, which is very customisable. You can also use the start/stop button to make your coffee as long or short you want.

It complements my kitchen superbly and it looks like a machine you would see in your high street baristas. The product can be quite challenging to use at first, but persevere and keep trying. Believe me, once you get it tasting right, you will not use any other machine! I recommend using coffee beans that need to be grinded and try to spend that little bit extra on the quality of bean - as this machine is worth it. I definitely recommend this machine.

It has replaced my kettle completely, it is such a dream to use and makes a gorgeous coffee if i do say so myself, It not only makes coffee but you can heat soups and make a nice cuppa aswell of which i am yet to master, I did expect it to be wider but it is honestly the perfect size and fits in my small kitchen perfectly, It is so simple to use from the get go but if you get a little stuck the handy instruction book is there and easy to follow now small text it is nice bold clear text for anyone to read, When my machine arrived i was like a kid in a toy shop and couldn't resist using it instantly, I honestly highly recommend this machine if you are a coffee lover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Barista at home Gone are the days of me using ground coffee in a cafetière - the experience and taste from this machine is out of this world! There is so many customisation options that you could spend all day testing out different combinations to get the perfect taste. I would definitely buy some good quality coffee beans for this as you can quite easily spot the difference. All the accessories are neatly tucked away inside the unit and the water tank is massive so you don’t have to keep filling up. I do sometimes get a bit of water leak from the bottom where the drip tray isn’t perfectly in line at the back, it moves quite smoothly so very easy to knock it out of place. The unit itself is also very big and tall so make sure it’ll fit where you want it first!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional Home Barista Espresso Machine I received this espresso machine as a Christmas present this year. The machine has a professional 58mm cafe size portafilter with non pressurised baskets, an integrated conical burr grinder which produces consistent grind and has a professional steam wand which can also deliver hot water. This is everything I was looking for in an espresso machine. I find convenient the large drip tray which has a storage behind it for the filter basket and cleaning utensils and also I like the large 2.8 L capacity water tank as this means I only need to refill the tank every 3-4 days. I love the blue lights under the grind delivery head and on the buttons as they really compliment the smart stainless steel finish at the front of the machine. The machine delivers great tasting espresso after correctly dialling. The milk develops a beautiful paint like silky texture after steaming under the wand and only takes around 20-30 seconds for a one cup latte/mocha. Overall I am really pleased with the machines current performance however some improvements I would have liked is a pressure gauge to help dial in a little easier and also it would be nice if the machine came with some pressurised baskets in addition to the non pressurised ones supplied and some espresso cups, a knock box, a water filter and some cleaning tablets.

Firstly it’s stunning to have in your kitchen. It’s the perfect size even if you have a small kitchen like me. The simple to use, but sleek design means that you don’t have to be a genius to get used to it. It comes with all the necessary tools. It’s easy to clean and the instructions on how to clean are very clear. The grinding time of the coffee beans depends on how fine you choose to have it, however you won’t have to wait long for a beautiful cup of deliciousness. This would make a great gift for a loved one or as a present to yourself. I would 1000% recommend the Breville Barista Max Espresso Coffee Machine. I will never have the buy a coffee shop coffee again!

(Not a good start) Takes forever to clean & uses lots of water doing so. Grinder spills over the edge, so more cleaning. Very disappointed with this machine. In my opinion, an expensive first time foray into the coffee machine "barista" style home coffee experience.

You can customise how fine you want the coffee to be ground up and calibrate it in such a way that you get the perfect pour everytime ! The milk frothed works perfectly and easy to do ! I made myself a delicious latte in this picture and it tasted great ! I find that it will also save a lot of money as the pod machines have become so expensive and with this you get fresh ground coffee at a much cheaper price

The overall look of the machine is sleek and not too big that overtakes a kitchen space. I like that the tray comes out and you can put the tools in there. The instructions book is a little confusing as it does not tell you that you need to remove the red tab from the water tank. I am trying to find the best grind level at the moment but am finding that whatever level I am using, the extraction of the grind stays the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Coffee shop quality coffee at home! So I started off using the machine as a complete novice! I’ll admit I was a little bit daunted to begin with and made sure I read the instructions thoroughly! My other half is a previously trained barista, but I wanted to try this without any of his help to see how easy it was. The instructions are nice and clear and have nice easy to follow pictures. I managed to make a coffee first go so that’s a plus! After having used it for just under a week now I can honestly say I’m glad I’ve got it. It’s definitely easier to use the more practice you have. It obviously takes longer to make a coffee with this than the pod coffee machines, for example. But if you want a coffee like you get in the coffee shops than that’s the price you pay. And my is it worth it. Can honestly say it’s the same as going out and getting one from your high street coffee shop! But it’s at home! Overall it looks really swish and is nice and compact for what it is meaning it isn’t too large or imposing for our kitchen, which is great. Couple of downsides I’ve found, hence the 4 stars. The ground coffee dispenser doesn’t measure how much comes out. So when filling the group head you really don’t know when it has enough in and just have to do it by eye. Secondly, there is no milk thermometer just the advice in the booklet that the milk will be done when it’s uncomfortable to touch the jug for 3 secs or more. I found this very vague. And after purchasing a cheap milk thermometer online to clip into the jug, and trying again, I found the correct temperature was actually way past what their advice indicated. So since then I have had much better milk! Just a shame it doesn’t come with one considering the price and the need for it. As I said previously my other half has been a barista in the past. He said that it’s very easy to use and the steam arm is very effective. It was very easy to adjust the grind to ensure correct flow rate and coffee strength. He also seconds the views on the milk thermometer and it being coffee shop quality coffee! To summarise, a few minor things letting it down, but overall a really great purchase and a must for coffee lovers like myself. I dread to think of how much money I’m going to save using this rather than buying out! I’m also looking forward to trying different types of beans! I have also tried hot chocolate too and it was fabulous! Very happy.
